Fabric & Prop Donation to Coleg y Cymoedd

In honour of ‘National Give Something Away Day’, we wanted to draw attention to our recent effort to support a local college, as we remain committed to our sustainability mission here at Bad Wolf.

All Bad Wolf productions are BAFTA ALBERT-certified, and we’re constantly working to ensure that our next production is more sustainable than the last. As well as having numerous sustainable practices in place throughout production, we also endeavour to reuse or recycle as many props, costumes and furniture as possible once production wraps.

Earlier this year, we gave a number of props, fabrics and materials to the creative team at Coleg y Cymoedd, a further education college based here in South Wales. These were sourced from Sky Original A Discovery of Witches, a Bad Wolf production that recently finished filming its third series.

We were delighted to see that the talented first-year students on the BA Costume course were able to use the materials and props to create impressive costumes for their ‘Mad Max’-inspired dye and breakdown and Tudor costume workshops. Not only this; the students also created set dressing to match the costumes, and even shot a photoshoot – the results of which wouldn’t look out of place on a promotional poster!

A key cornerstone of our mission, through our partner non-profit Screen Alliance Wales, is to encourage, support and train new talent with the goal of inspiring them to one day work on productions such as His Dark Materials, A Discovery of Witches, and Industry, all of which are made in Wales and benefit from the excellent talent pool of Welsh crew.

Judging from the results of the first-years’ project, we are certain we’ll be seeing many of them working on a production here at Wolf Studios Wales in the near future!
