The Other Bennet Sister
Mary Bennet, the overlooked middle sister from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, longs to shine as brightly as her sisters. When she leaves home and sets out to find her place in the world, she experiences life and love on her own terms - and learns that happiness isn’t found in the approval of others.
The series gives Mary Bennet the epic love story no one expected for her, taking her on a journey from her family home in Meryton to the lively soirees of Regency London, and the captivating landscapes of the Lake District. Along the way, she searches for independence, romance, and (most elusive of all) her mother’s approval. In the end, she learns to truly understand herself and realises that her happiness lies in her own hands.
Jennifer Sheridan (Extraordinary) is lead director with Asim Abbasi (Cake) directing later episodes. The executive producers are Kate Crowther, Becca Kinder and Jane Tranter for Bad Wolf, Rebecca Ferguson for the BBC, Jess O’Riordan, Robert Schildhouse and Stephen Nye for BritBox, Sarah Quintrell, and Janice Hadlow. The series was commissioned by the BBC, with BritBox co-producing and Sony Pictures Television handling international distribution.
