Bad Wolf appoints Dan McCulloch as Director of Content

Bad Wolf has announced that Dan McCulloch has been appointed as Director of Content for the company.

In this new role McCulloch will have responsibility for the company’s overall development and production strategy – reporting directly to CEO Jane Tranter.

McCulloch rose through the freelance world, from Producer to Executive Producer, instrumental to much-loved TV drama – Endeavour and Victoria as well as producer on the first season of Channel 4’s Indian Summers.

He was recently exclusive on all three seasons of the BAFTA Award-winning drama His Dark Materials, one of the UK’s biggest co-productions made by the independent production sector.

Since launching in 2015 Bad Wolf has completed multiple seasons of returning high-end drama productions alongside His Dark Materials – A Discovery of Witches, I Hate Suzie and Industry; and are currently in production with The Winter King and Russell T Davies’ new Doctor Who. In December 2021 Sony Pictures took a majority stake in Bad Wolf to help the company into its next phase of growth – this new role is instrumental in promoting that global expansion.

Bad Wolf has a significant slate of new development across a range of broadcasters including HBO, Netflix, Apple, C4, ITV, Sky and the BBC. Recently announced developments include Beth O’Leary’s The No Show and Terri White’s memoir Coming Undone with Billie Piper for Netflix, as well as soon-to-be-announced new productions for 2023.

McCulloch takes responsibility for leading the company’s overall development and production strategy as well as working to build relationships with the creative and production communities, commissioners and agents, across the UK and internationally.

CEO Jane Tranter said “Dan’s eye for talent and energy has brought a confident, creative, inclusive and modernising pace to Bad Wolf and I am delighted he has now come on board to help lead Bad Wolf into the next stage of its growth.’

Dan McCulloch said “Producing His Dark Materials was the most incredible journey and to see it through was an absolute privilege – as rewarding as it was challenging. To now be at the heart of a company with that level of ambition, with offices and teams working across Cardiff, London, and LA, is a hugely exciting and unique opportunity.”
