SITTER CALL OUT TO CREW AND STAFF
15 years ago, the Iris Price and UK Film Council commissioned the acclaimed portrait photographer, Donald MacLellan to photograph 20 gay and lesbian industry professionals working in front and behind of the lens. Including the names of Simon Callow, Terence Davies, Stephen Fry, Phyllida Lloyd, Mark Gatiss, Briony Hanson, Sean Mathias, Sir Ian McKellen, Berwyn Rowlands, Sophie Ward and Sir Antony Sher – the aim was to recognise the LBGTQ+ people working withing Film, TV and Media.
This year we are excited to announce that the Iris Prize and Ffotogallary have created a new initiative with Bad Wolf to continue this great tradition.
As part of our 10 year anniversary, Bad Wolf would like to extend this same invitation to any of our LGBTQ+ staff or crew to apply for a portrait.
Sittings will take place at Wolf Studios Wales in June and will then be launched at the Iris Prize Festival in October before being displayed on the Iris and Bad Wolf websites and being exhibited in the WSW corridor.
A dedicated panel will select our individuals and pairs to be photographed and the photographer is currently being selected by Ffotogallery.
We would love to invite members of our LGBTQ+ community of crew members and staff to volunteer to be photographed.
If you are interested please email Hannah by the 22nd of April noting the show you worked on and the role you had.
PHOTOGRAPHER CALL OUT
The Iris Prize and Ffotogallery, in partnership with Bad Wolf Ltd, are delighted to announce a new opportunity for an emerging photographer based in Wales.
Following the success of Dylan Lewis Thomas’ Pink Portraits commission in 2023, and Sarah Scorey’s Pink Portraits commission for Transport for Wales in 2024, the successful applicant will be invited to create new portraits of some of the staff and crew from Bad Wolf, who are part of Wales’ LGBTQ+ community.
This opportunity is open to all emerging photographers currently based in Wales who identify as LGBTQ+ or who are supporters and allies of the community.
Submissions are open from 9am on 17 March 2025. Deadline for submissions is 11:59pm on Sunday 20th April.
The commissioned shoot will take place in the first couple of weeks of June, and the photographer will receive a fee of £1000.
